FAQs

Question 1

Is my child safe at DRIBLR?

Accepted Answer

Safety is a priority at DRIBLR. All coaches working with children have an Enhanced DBS check, and we take appropriate safeguarding measures to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone taking part.

Question 2

What qualifications do DRIBLR coaches have?

Accepted Answer

All DRIBLR coaches have relevant football coaching and/or fitness qualifications appropriate to the sessions they deliver. Coaches working with children also have the appropriate safeguarding requirements in place.

Question 3

Do parents need to stay during sessions?

Accepted Answer

For children aged 12 and under, a parent or responsible adult must remain on-site for the duration of the session.

For ages 13–17, parents are very welcome to stay and watch, but aren't required to remain at the venue.

Question 4

Does my child need to be good at football?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. DRIBLR isn't a football academy and there are no trials.

Our sessions welcome different abilities, from complete beginners to children who already play regularly. It's about getting active, building confidence, developing skills and enjoying football.

Question 5

Is DRIBLR competitive?

Accepted Answer

We include games, team activities and friendly challenges, but winning isn't the focus.
We encourage everyone to develop their skills, challenge themselves and enjoy playing without the pressure of a highly competitive environment.

Question 6

What age can my child start?

Accepted Answer

Our Tiny DRIBLRS sessions start from 18 months, with sessions available throughout childhood and the teenage years.

And DRIBLR doesn't stop at 18 — we also have sessions for adults.

Question 7

What should my child wear?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable sports clothing and suitable footwear for the venue is all they need. There's no requirement to buy a DRIBLR kit.

Question 8

Does my child need to bring anything?

Accepted Answer

Just a water bottle and a smile! We provide all the equipment needed for sessions. For younger children, you may want to bring a snack for after the session.

Question 9

Can siblings attend together?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Children who fall within the same age group can attend the same regular session.
We also have Family PLAYRS, specifically designed for siblings aged 4–11 who want to enjoy football together even when they're different ages.

Question 10

Do you run sessions during school holidays?

Accepted Answer

Our regular children's sessions run for 39 weeks of the year during school term time. This gives families the freedom to enjoy school holidays together without worrying about missing their regular DRIBLR sessions while they're away.

Question 11

Why do I pay monthly if sessions are term-time only?

Accepted Answer

Your monthly payment isn't a charge for that particular month's sessions. We've taken the total cost of 39 weeks of sessions and divided it into 12 equal monthly payments, keeping the monthly cost low, simple and predictable throughout the year.

Question 12

Can I cancel my membership?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You're not tied into a long-term contract. We require 30 days' notice to cancel your membership. For cancellations made during July, a 60-day notice period applies due to the summer break.

Once your membership ends, your child's place in their regular session is no longer guaranteed and may be offered to another family. If you'd like to return in the future, you're very welcome to rejoin, subject to availability. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full cancellation details.

Question 13

Where do DRIBLR sessions take place?

Accepted Answer

DRIBLR sessions take place at various venues across Newport, making it easier to find a session convenient for you.

All of our regular sessions are held indoors, because we know better than to rely on the Welsh weather!  You'll find the exact venue details and available session times when choosing your session.

Question 14

Can my child try a session before committing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We want your child to enjoy DRIBLR and feel comfortable coming back. Book your chosen session as normal and attend your first session. If afterwards you decide DRIBLR isn't right for you, just let us know within 48 hours of the first session and we'll cancel your membership and refund the remaining sessions covered by your first month's payment. If you continue after this 48-hour period, our normal cancellation terms will apply.

Question 15

What happens if a session is cancelled?

Accepted Answer

In the rare event we need to cancel a session, we'll notify you as soon as possible. Cancelled sessions are either rescheduled or credited.

Question 16

What if my child has additional needs or a disability?

Accepted Answer

We want DRIBLR to be as welcoming and inclusive as possible. If your child has a disability, additional need or requires extra support, please contact us before booking so we can discuss their individual needs and whether the session and venue can provide the appropriate support.

Question 17

What happens If my child moves into the next age group?

Accepted Answer

When it's time to move up, we'll help you find an appropriate session in the next DRIBLR age group. We'll aim to make the transition as straightforward as possible, subject to available spaces.

Question 18

How many children are in each session?

Accepted Answer

We keep our groups deliberately manageable so everyone has plenty of opportunity to get involved.

18 months–5 years: up to 12 children
6–14 years: up to 20 children, depending on venue size
15+ years: up to 22 participants
Family PLAYRS: up to 12 children across participating families

Group sizes increase with age, allowing us to keep our younger sessions smaller while giving older groups enough participants for team activities, fitness challenges and games.
